The Surprise Tie

How often has this happened to you: you get in to the office after a long weekend, and there’s a personalized, outstandingly-crafted home-made artisan tie waiting for you at your desk?  If you’re like me, one brilliant time.   Knowing my pal and colleague Lindsay is something of a crafts-person (seriously, check out her stuff), I inquired once about the intricacies of tie-making.  Seems like they should be simple, right?  No.  Not even a little bit.  Even if you get the proper fabric, there are patterns, folds, stitches, linings and sundry other obstacles that only people gifted with the sewing gene can handle.  Lindsay is one of those people, and turns out this weekend, she tackled her first tie.  And offered it to me!  It’s awesome, and I’m forever in her debt.  Either because she’s British, or because she has a highly-cultivated sense of style, it is imbued with cool.  This is the first of a prosperous line, guaranteed.
UPDATE: Lindsay wrote way more about the process of hand-crafting me this baby on her excellent Brits n’ Bobs blog.  What are you waiting for?
